Portland Metro Dumpster Disposal Rates
Dumpster disposal costs in the Portland metro depend on the type of material, actual load weight, and disposal facility. PDX Dumpster bills disposal separately at the actual disposal facility cost with no markup.

No Markup on Disposal Fees
PDX Dumpster does not use a flat per-pound disposal markup. After your dumpster is picked up, disposal is based on the actual facility charge for the material and load.
How PDX Dumpster Disposal Pricing Works
Your dumpster rental and the disposal of the material are separate parts of the job.

Load Your Material
Material type matters because mixed garbage, clean wood, clean yard debris, concrete, dirt, and other materials may be handled differently by disposal facilities.
Actual Facility Disposal Cost
After pickup, the load is taken to an appropriate disposal or processing facility. The customer is billed the actual disposal facility cost without a PDX Dumpster markup.
Two dumpsters with the same amount of material can have different disposal charges if the materials weigh differently or are accepted under different facility categories.
Metro Central & Metro South Disposal Rates
Metro sets disposal rates for its Portland-area transfer stations. The following are current Metro reference rates for the 2026–27 fiscal year.
These are facility rates, not PDX Dumpster flat-rate disposal charges. Your actual disposal charge depends on where the load is taken, its weight, its material classification, applicable minimums, and other facility charges.

Why Dumpster Disposal Costs Vary
Mixed Household & Construction Debris
Mixed loads containing household junk, drywall, manufactured wood, construction debris, furniture, or other general waste may be processed as garbage or mixed debris.
These loads generally cost more to process than clean, separated recyclable material.
Clean Yard Debris
Qualifying clean branches, brush, leaves, and other accepted organic yard material may have a different disposal path than mixed garbage.
Dirt, sod, rocks, garbage, plastic, and other contaminants can change how the load is classified.

Some facilities offer separate rates for qualifying clean, untreated wood. Painted, stained, engineered, laminated, or otherwise treated wood may not qualify as clean wood.
Concrete, Dirt & Heavy Materials
Concrete, dirt, brick, gravel, sod, and other dense materials become heavy very quickly and require different handling from ordinary mixed debris.
PDX Dumpster typically uses our 7-yard heavy-material dumpster for approved dense materials.

Dumpster size measures volume, while disposal facilities commonly charge according to weight and material classification.
For example, a dumpster full of lightweight household items can weigh substantially less than the same-sized dumpster loaded with flooring, roofing material, wet debris, soil, or dense construction waste.
You Are Not Paying for Empty Space
The final disposal portion of your invoice reflects the disposal facility's actual charge for your load rather than a fixed disposal amount added regardless of what you throw away.

Does PDX Dumpster charge a fixed price per pound?
No. Disposal is billed separately based on the actual disposal facility charge for the load. PDX Dumpster does not add a markup to that disposal fee.
Why can't you tell me the exact disposal cost beforehand?
The exact disposal charge depends on the final load weight, material type, facility classification, and facility used. Those details are not always known until the loaded dumpster is picked up and processed.
Are all materials charged at the same disposal rate?
No. Disposal facilities can charge differently for garbage, clean wood, clean yard debris, heavy material, and other categories. Material contamination can also change how a load is classified.
Why are Metro rates shown on this page?
Metro's published rates provide customers with a useful public reference for how local disposal pricing varies by material. PDX Dumpster may use Metro or another appropriate facility depending on the load and project.
Is disposal included in the dumpster rental price?
Disposal is billed separately from the dumpster rental. This keeps the disposal charge tied to the actual material and facility cost rather than building an assumed disposal amount into every rental.
Can I lower my disposal cost by separating material?
In some situations, yes. Clean, separated materials may qualify for different facility rates than mixed garbage. Contact PDX Dumpster before loading if you have clean yard debris, clean wood, concrete, dirt, or another material that may require special handling.
